The Truth

Dylan and Norman find Summers' belt and throw it into the harbor. Shelby finds Jiao at the Bates Motel and Jiao flees. Shelby holds the Bates family at gunpoint and assaults Norma, causing Norman to angrily attack him. Dylan kills Shelby to save the family. Norma reveals the truth about Norman's father's death to Dylan: Norman killed him in a fit of rage after seeing his father beating Norma and has absolutely no recollection of it, believing his father's death was an accident. She tells Dylan that Norman needs to be protected.

At the office, Caleb once again leaves Kirsten holding the bag when he forces her to break up with Julie for him. Thanks to Oliver, Ryan gets suspended from school and is shunned by everyone else, who refuse to believe that Oliver is dangerously obsessed with Marissa. However Luke believes Ryan and offers to help him. Seth drifts further apart from Anna and is drawn to Summer. Oliver finally loses it when Marissa rejects him and holds her hostage with a gun.

Ethan is slashed and stalked by violent humanoid predators as he makes his way through the woods toward Boise. During his orientation at the academy, Ben learns the truth about Wayward Pines: humans have evolved into "abbies" (aberrations), the result of a series of genetic mutations, and are now vicious carnivores who dominate a wasted Earth in the year 4028. The citizen-abductees of Wayward Pines were kept in hibernation chambers for over two thousand years before being reintroduced into the town, which is essentially an ark to re-introduce and protect the human race. Principal Fisher tells the students they cannot reveal this truth to their parents. Ethan comes upon the ancient ruins of Boise. A helicopter arrives with Dr. Jenkins, who introduces himself as David Pilcher, creator of Wayward Pines. He explains that the town is humanity's only sanctuary.

Ryan gets a visit from someone with an offer that greatly intrigues him and forces him to contemplate the rest of his life, but Wilfred is unable to sit idly by as one of his greatest nemeses returns into his life once again.
