Tom testifies that Mark admitted guilt over Danny's death, but Jocelyn gets him to admit he lied. Hardy cuts off Claire's protection, then gets more Sandbrook evidence from Tess. Ellie meets with the Gillespies, and Cate denies knowledge of Thorp Agriservices. Hardy shows Ellie a door in the fence between the Gillespie and the Ashworth/Ripley houses, and a flashback reveals Lee built it after he and Claire moved in. Mark testifies to having sex with Becca the night of Danny's murder, and accounts for his whereabouts during two critical hours. Ellie confronts Tom and demands he return home. Bishop gets Mark to admit to confronting Joe in prison, and Bishop asks Justice Sharma to dismiss the case. Knight investigates the breach of procedure, and the court allows the case to proceed. Hardy goes into the hospital to get a pacemaker. Olly sleeps with Abby, who discovers information about Lucy among Olly's papers. Ellie sees a picture of Claire wearing Pippa's pendant, but Claire later destroys it. In separate flashbacks, Lisa Newberry tells Claire that she hates her mother, Lee pleads with Claire not to follow through on their plan, and Claire breaks into Tess' car during the Sandbrook case and steals the pendant.

In the final episode of the first series, a much-loved resident is in decline, which sets in motion a sequence of events culminating in the appearance of an unexpected specter. Meanwhile, Derek finds a door where there should be no doors ...

Derek goes on a date with a girl from a dating website. He's excited but worried about his dad's health. True to form Geoff nearly ruins things for Derek, and Kev fails to stand up to him.

Fleabag takes a date to Godmother's sex-hibition to discover a few shocks are in store for her there, including a declaration of love, a familiar piece of work and an entire wall of surprises. But where is Claire? The series 1 finale forces Fleabag to face up to her actions and to finally reveal what happened to her beloved friend Boo.

The day of Godmother and Dad's wedding has arrived and Fleabag has decided to give them an all too familiar gift. Claire finally tells Martin that she doesn't love him following a revelation about her miscarriage, while Martin has a few home truths of his own. Fleabag persuades Claire to go after the man she really loves. Fleabag and the priest finally admit their love for one another.

A weakened, still-disguised Tommy knows where his son lives and attends school. Clare invites family and friends to a birthday party for Catherine - who does not want it. Tensions arise when Daniel lets slip some information about Becky and Tommy's old relationship, implying Catherine's allegation of rape leading to suicide may be untrue. Ashley is murdered in a drive-by shooting the day before he is due to be put into Witness Protection; the police reason someone higher up in the drug trade had heard of Ashley's whistleblowing and then silenced him. Tommy finds a way to see Ryan regularly without raising the child's family's suspicion but this soon turns into a dangerous hostage situation with Catherine on-scene. After many years, Catherine finally apprehends the brutal criminal Tommy Lee Royce. The series ends with Catherine standing on a high-leveled hill near Hebden Bridge, smiling into the camera.

Catherine makes a gruesome discovery at the Garrs' farm, leading to an arrest. She also learns Drummond's true identity and confronts her with the facts about Royce, though some damage has already been done. Hearing Neil's account of Vicky Fleming's penchant for blackmailing her married lovers, Anne's account of John's recent behaviour, and a statement from John's wife's boyfriend leads Catherine to finally close the net on Vicky's killer, once again involving Catherine in a precarious situation.

Luther, framed for Zoe's murder, chooses to run from the police until he can prove his innocence. He plots to take revenge on Ian Reed with the assistance of Alice and Mark.

Wendy considers an offer. Holden and Bill struggle to communicate their findings to the judicial system in the baffling Altoona case.

In a flashback, Otis catches his father Remi having sex with one of his patients, leading to his parents' divorce. Following his father's advice, Otis decides to take Lily up on her previous offer. During their session, Otis is incredibly awkward and has a panic attack when Lily's advances trigger his childhood memories. Eric, increasingly isolated, tries to dress "more normal." He winds up lashing out at the Swing Band instructor and punches out Anwar, resulting in suspension. His father tries to connect with Eric but is unsuccessful. Adam wins an essay-writing competition with an essay he had paid Maeve to write. Miss Sands correctly guesses that Maeve wrote the essay (as does Otis) and informs Mr Groff, who is already suspicious. Otis advises Aimee, who has a new boyfriend who insists that she dictate matters in bed. Jean, still infatuated with Jakob, manufactures a situation for him to come to her house and they become intimate. Maeve's brother Sean returns after having disappeared for several months; they reconcile after some tense moments. Maeve and Otis try to sort out their feelings for each other individually, but - to complicate matters, Ola asks Otis out.

Porter convinces Baxter he is being used and the two manage to escape from Sharq's compound. Porter calls Collinson regarding a pick-up and a deal with Baxter, but they have to return to Afghanistan. When they arrive, a sole Taliban kills Baxter. Collinson confronts Arlington about his deals with Sharq; Arlington readily admits that they are using him as an asset and aiding him to lead the insurgent movement. After Collinson divulges the pick-up point, Arlington contacts Sharq to have his men kill the two. The soldier who was comatose seven years ago dies. When Leyla finds a ballistics match with Collinson's weapon, she confronts and forces him to save Porter at the extraction point. Porter, having learned about his actions, confronts him; Collinson admits that he killed the soldiers because he panicked and mistook them for terrorists. Moments later, they are ambushed by the Taliban. Collinson is mortally wounded while aiding Porter's escape, and uses a grenade to kill the Taliban unit. The episode ends in a cliffhanger, as a Delta force elimination team is given the green light to intercept Porter, who they believe may be headed for Iran.
