The McKinley High production of Grease opens, and Santana returns to help out with it. Rachel also has another run in with Cassandra, her dance instructor, and Kurt and Rachel visit Lima.

Carrie goes out with a few of the girls from the office, and comes home feeling depressed, feeling like she has wasted her life. She decides to do something about it, and goes back to college. Doug is supportive at first, but begins to feel neglected as Carrie gets busy with homework and her new classmates. Doug's sister, Stephanie, suggests that Doug might just be worried that Carrie will no longer need him once she decided to go back to school,

When Jimmy realizes he needs a daycare service for Hope, he goes to Sabrina, an employee at the local grocery story and whom he has an infatuation with, for help. She directs him to her cousin, Shelley, whom Jimmy had hooked up with two years previously. Jimmy is reluctant to hurt her feeling when she still cares for him, but has a dead tooth on one of her front teeth. When he does hurt her feelings however, Shelley starts charging her services. Meanwhile, Jimmy pressures Virginia to quit smoking for Hope's health; Virginia will only to so if Burt convinces her mentally unstable grandmother Maw Maw to quit also, which is no easy task. During one of her lucid episodes, Maw Maw reveals she initially quit smoking in the 1970s to live long enough to see Virginia grow up. Virginia decides to follow suit and offers Jimmy money she usually spends on cigarettes to pay for Shelley's day care.

Moe Szyslak and Waylon Smithers turn Moe's tavern into an ultra-trendy gay bar. Meanwhile, Principal Skinner tries to date the substitute music teacher and sets her daughter up with Bart.

Alex's dedication to learning makes Phil & Claire question themselves. Gloria tries to meet new friends. Mitchell runs into an ex-girlfriend while out with Cameron.

Bob's friend, Warren, comes to town and makes an offer to invest in the restaurant, which could use a much-needed makeover, but their decorating ideas do not go well with each other. Meanwhile, Gene gives up his bedroom for Warren to stay in.

Robin's old boyfriend, Simon, from another of her teenage pop videos comes to town, leading to a rekindling of their former romance, and Barney being thrown into a frenzy to find the second video in question, which also features Alan Thicke and Tiffany. Ted, Lily, and Marshall ponder their former personalities being brought back in the presence of old friends. When Robin is dumped by Simon again, Robin feels vulnerable leading her and Barney to sleep together.

Jane convinces her friends to make vision boards to visualize the path to their dreams, although everything doesn't go according to plan; Brad has a hard time bonding to his humorless car-loving boss (Larry Wilmore), until he flips for Max's limo; Dave decides not to let his friends meet his new girlfriend (Noureen DeWulf).

Ann throws Leslie a bachelorette party that gets interrupted by Councilman Jamm and leads to the return of Ken Hotate, while Chris has a bachelor's party for Ben that turns into a celebration of the parties that Tom, Andy, Ron and even Jerry never got to have

It is a spoof of movies concerning idealistic teachers being confronted with a class of cynical teenagers, disengaged by conventional schooling and loosely parodies The Principal, Dangerous Minds, Lean on Me and Stand and Deliver. It also notably parodies the LA River drag race from Grease.
