She is remanded to an institution that houses other monsters: Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D., an insect-headed mad scientist, the Missing Link, a 20,000-year-old fish-man, B.O.B., a gelatin-like, jolly, indestructible monster and Insectosaurus, a fuzzy bug that stands at 350 feet tall, making even Susan look tiny by comparison. When a UFO lands and an alien overlord named Gallaxhar demands that Earth be given to them, General W.R. Monger suggests to the President that the monsters can provide the firepower to defeat the aliens.

A hacker is literally abducted into the world of a computer and forced to participate in gladiatorial games where his only chance of escape is with the help of a heroic security program.

The Smiths prepare for the arrival of Stan's half-brother, Rusty's (Lou Diamond Phillips) family for Thanksgiving. However, it gets subdued because of Steve's brattiness following Hayley and Jeff's eloping. They decide to go to Rusty's to see what their home is like. However, it is revealed that Rusty is rich after discovering copper from a land given from his grandfather (Ed Asner). The Smiths try to pull the old switcheroo on Rusty, resulting in getting trapped in the desert. However, they are saved by Hayley and Jeff. In the end, Stan lets Hayley and Jeff move into their home after what they'd done.

The team investigates the 1981 case of a missing single mother after her body is found in the trunk of a car, and soon discover that she may have been growing wise to the shady operations at the car dealership where she had worked. The victim's daughter sees her mother at the bar where the daughter works.

The team re-investigates the 1982 case of a newborn baby who died under suspicious circumstances, which were originally reported as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The victim is not seen at the end due to the fact that she was an infant at the time of her death. Instead it ends with Lilly kneeling at her grave.

Earl attempts to help Scott get over his preoccupation with golf - an obsession caused when he and Randy started fixing Scott's golf game to get free beer. But after becoming so thoroughly entangled in Scott's personal life that he drives Randy away, Earl realizes that he may be the one with the obsession.

David and Keith struggle to create boundaries for their new sons. Brenda and Nate receive some ambiguous news; Ruth fills her schedule with activities.

The discovery of the personalized ring of a long-dead Philadelphia woman found on the finger of a dead junkie prompts the team to reopen the 1982 murder case of the troubled surgeon's wife. Lilly sees the victim from across the street during the arrest.

The team begins the hunt for a serial killer when a murder investigation of a woman who disappeared in 1985 leads to the discovery of eight more victims, all of whom were found decapitated. The murderer is not caught because there is no proof nor confession. The victim is not seen because the case is not officially closed.

Turk and Carla set the date for their wedding. J.D. is worried about losing his close friendship with Turk and asks him out on a "man date." Elliot gets back together with her ex-boyfriend Sean, but the relationship has a rocky start. Carla obsesses over whose urine is in an unmarked container left at the nurses' station. The title refers to the featured song "Don't Stop Believin'," by one of J.D.'s favorite bands, Journey.
