In a future where everyone but the social elite lives underground and must cycle on exercise bikes in order to earn a currency called "Merit" and to power their surroundings, Bingham "Bing" Madsen (Daniel Kaluuya) uses his entire fortune to get the object of his affections, Abi (Jessica Brown Findlay), an audition on a reality talent show. Abi auditions as a singer but is instead offered a job as a porn actress which she accepts to escape the extreme drudgery. Distraught by this Bing exercises hard to earn his own audition. He threatens to commit suicide on screen while delivering an impassioned speech on the inauthenticity of their entire society. Ironically, he is offered a job to twice weekly deliver a similar speech which he accepts and escapes the drudgery.

Alex and Helen have just had sex for the first time, and the aftermath is awkward. Alex is newly divorced, and Helen's fiance recently died - yet her apartment is littered with giant photographs of him. Alex can't remember what's supposed to happen next, so Helen offers to call him a cab, then asks what he's thinking. Missing his kids, Alex starts bawling, so Helen picks up the phone and starts dialing the cab company.

Pierce and a few other Greendale students ingest a bio-hazard substance at the school Halloween Party, causing them to exhibit flu-like symptoms and they soon begin turning into zombies. It is up to the rest of the gang to save themselves and the school when Dean Pelton locks them in with the zombie-infected student body.

J.D. attempts to avoid confronting Kim about her pregnancy. Dr. Cox attempts to deal with his anger issues, both at home and at work. Elliot is having trouble being the only one in the group with no child on the way. The Janitor questions the purpose of his life.

Lily wakes up in Barney's bed. Marshall hangs out with Brad and they take part in couple-like activities, to Ted and Robin's amusement.

Bailey worries Dr. Webber is mommy-tracking her and becomes Derek's intern for the day. George begins a relationship with Callie and finds her living in the hospital. Meredith takes up knitting -- and a vow of celibacy. Cristina competes with the Chief during classroom exercises. Burke tries to teach Alex a lesson about bedside manners, but it's a lesson that falls on deaf ears. Izzie tries to get George to move back into the house. George discovers that Addison's patient is Meredith's half-sister. Meredith meets Doc's vet, and takes a shine to him.

Carrie drags Doug to a karaoke bar where his surprising vocal talent attracts an online secret admirer - but when Carrie puts a stop to their communication, the admirer tries on Glenn Close-style obsession for size. In other drama behind the microphone, Deacon is shunned by his urban brothers for his extremely non-ethnic taste in music.

The team re-investigates the circumstances of a fire that killed twenty-two people and destroyed a disco in 1978, when a new set of remains with a bullet hole in the skull is discovered at the site.

Doug and Carrie run into Father McAndrew at the fish market. They exchange pleasantries and as they are parting ways, Fr. McAndrew tells them that he would love to see them in church sometime. Unsure of how to politely decline, Doug and Carrie agree to attend church on Sunday. During the service, Carrie decides that since she is in church, she should pray for something...a raise at work. Much to her surprise, the next day, her prayers are answered and she gets her raise. Since this prayer request was granted, Carrie turns to much more frivolous things - like a sale on shoes. Doug is disturbed by this and he tries to convince her that God would never grant her prayer requests. It doesn't take long for Doug to begin to ask for his own frivolous requests - such as the Jets winning their next football game. Meanwhile, Arthur hosts an open house in order to sell the house. Unfortunately, he hasn't mentioned a word of his efforts to Doug or Carrie, the homeowners.

The family goes to a water park where Reese and Malcolm finally get their revenge on Lois. Meanwhile, Dewey stays home with an elderly babysitter (played by Bea Arthur), but when the babysitter has a stroke, Dewey goes away and has an adventure of his own.

During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. The Music for UNICEF Concert: A Gift of Song was a benefit concert of popular music held in the United Nations General Assembly in New York City on January 9, 1979. It was intended to raise money for UNICEF world hunger programs and to mark the beginning of the International Year of the Child. The concert was videotaped and broadcast the following day on NBC in the U.S. and around the world. The moderator was David Frost, with Gilda Radner and Henry Winkler also introducing some of the performers. Henry Fonda made a short appearance. Each performer signed a large parchment declaring support for UNICEF's goals. The concert was the idea of impresario Robert Stigwood, the Bee Gees, and David Frost, who originally conceived it as an annual event. Not all of the performances were truly live, with ABBA lip-synching their new song "Chiquitita" and the Bee Gees lip-synching their song Too Much Heaven. It raised less than one million dollars at the time for UNICEF, although this figure did not include longer-term royalties from the songs and repeat performances.
