Ned owns and operates a pie bakery and seems to lead a perfectly normal life. This, however, is far from the truth. Ned can, with the touch of his hand, wake people from the dead. But another touch will kill them again, for good, and if he keeps them alive for more than a minute, someone else in close proximity dies. He decides to use this ability of his to solve crimes, but it grows complicated when he gives life to his childhood crush, Charlotte "Chuck" Charles, and decides to let her keep living.

Because of recession, successful seven-year-old Allen Gregory DeLongpre has been forced to attend elementary school. But because of his maturity, he has difficulty fitting in.

Steve finds himself unable to score with Lisa Silver, a sexy cheerleader, so Stan helps him by rigging the school election to name him student body president. Meanwhile, Francine cuts off Roger's junk food supply, and Roger uses Hayley to get his fix by writing her term papers.

Michael anticipates becoming the new president of his father's homebuilding company, having put up with his family for years in order to achieve it. This includes living in the attic of a model home with his son George Michael, and learning his sister Lindsay, brother-in-law Tobias and niece Maeby have been in town for a month without telling him. Instead, the position is given to his mother Lucille, shortly before his father George Sr. is arrested. Michael, reluctantly, returns to run the family business to steer them while his father is incarcerated, and Lindsay decides to become close to Michael again.

In the series premiere of "Awkward.", Jenna Hamilton finds out that getting the boy of her dreams isn't all it's cracked up to be. When a mysterious letter leads to a misunderstanding of epic proportions, Jenna realizes that her new stigma might be her ticket to social visibility.

After serving a fifteen year prison sentence, an unnamed criminal flees New York City when he is attacked by a group of gangsters. He heads to the small town of Banshee, Pennsylvania in search of his ex-lover and former accomplice Anastasia, who is living under the name Carrie Hopewell with her new husband Gordon and their two children Deva and Max. When the town's newly-appointed sheriff Lucas Hood is killed in a bar robbery, the criminal assumes his identity and takes up the mantle of sheriff of Banshee, with only the bar owner Sugar Bates knowing the truth. Lucas learns from Banshee's young mayor Dan Kendall that the town is under the stranglehold of business owner and criminal entrepreneur Kai Proctor, a former Amish who abandoned his faith in favor of illegal enterprises. Back in New York, mysterious crime boss Mr. Rabbit sends the gangsters after a former contact of Lucas's, Job, who helped Lucas forge paperwork to become sheriff. Job manages to escape, displeasing Mr. Rabbit, who instructs his employee to "find them both quickly."

Jamie Reagan graduates from the Police Academy and joins NYPD the same day a nine-year-old Latina girl is abducted walking home from school. Frank addresses the press about the case, and Danny is questioned about his interrogation tactics.

Tightly-wound captain Ray Holt takes over Brooklyn's 99th precinct, which includes Jake Peralta, a talented but carefree detective who's used to doing whatever he wants.

Jules is a woman in her forties who's five months out of her marriage and being pressured by her best friends into getting "back out there" and finding the dating scene not her style. But with a teenage son who would be happier if she were to hide out in the house, she gets the business from him when she feels like she's "allowed to have a life." Now in her forties, she finds herself as a divorcee and eager to live the dating scene that she missed. Laurie, her younger co-worker, wants to show Jules how to go out there and have fun. Ellie, her sarcastic, married and content to her average but lovable husband Andy. There's also her family, her ex-husband Bobby and her son Travis, who will test her patience, and her new fortysomething divorced neighbor Gray, who doesn't believe that Jules can date again.

A documentary crew films the activities of the workers in a nursing home. Derek, a 49 year old worker who loves his job and the people he cares for, introduces the crew to some of the workers and residents. Hannah, who runs the nursing home, is interviewed on how she got to where she is, and her relationship history. Derek and Hannah walk around outside in a grassy field and around a pond. Derek, thinking he sees a spider, gets scared and falls into the pond. Hannah attempts to get Derek to find out discreetly if Tom (in whom she is interested, and who is a relation of a resident) is gay, but the plan backfires. Hannah takes Derek to the pub, where three nearby women make fun of Derek's looks. Hannah and Derek leave, but not before Hannah headbutts one of the women. Later in the day, one of the residents dies, which greatly upsets Derek. After a memorial service, Hannah and Tom leave for a pub.

When Dirk Gently sets out to solve an apparently simple and harmless disappearance of a cat from an old lady's house, he unwittingly uncovers a double murder which, in turn, leads to a host of even more extraordinary events.
