After a century of French occupation, Vietnam emerges independent but divided.

Peter loses his job after drinking too much at a stag party and falls asleep at work. He then signs on to welfare to keep his wife Lois from finding out, but gets much more than he expected. Eventually, Lois finds out however, and Peter decides to dump the money from a blimp, at the Super Bowl. He is then arrested, and must await his family's rescue.

Love is in the air as the inmates prepare for a Valentine's Day party; Red makes an intriguing new discovery. Larry asks Piper to be his prison mole. Flashbacks detail Poussey's romantic history with a German girl whilst living on an army base with her father. When the two are caught making love, Poussey and her family are transferred away from the base. Whilst confronting her girlfriend's father, Poussey is ready to pull out a gun and attack him but her own father intervenes and stops her. At the Valentine's Party held at Litchfield, Pennsatucky is outlawed from her former group of friends by Leanne. Poussey and Taystee argue. Flaca and Maritza share an intimate moment in the kitchen.

February 1924. Nucky, preferring to stay in his room up in the Albatross Hotel and away from the boardwalk, comes to a peace agreement with Masseria and Rothstein. Richard, on his way home to reunite with his sister, leaves some corpses in his wake. Gillian, still an addict but desperate to get her grandson back, is resorting to prostitution until a stranger shows up with a better offer. Revenue Agent Sawicki's new partner, Warren Knox, isn't as naive as he acts. Chalky tries to coolly run the Onyx Club, but his right-hand man, Dunn Pursley, gets into a mess of trouble with a booking-agent and his wife.

Brenda hints two stoners from her street to follow her inside and initiates receiving anal sex from one while the other smokes weed.

Mickey is required by Detective Muncie to work with them on a sting operation against the Minassians and their Russian supplier of trafficked girls, Ivan Belikov. Preparations for Bunchy's wedding are underway but at the rehearsal dinner Ray gives less a best man's speech, more a mumbled couple of sentences. Ray had Lena check out Teresa and family, who are pretty clean. Terry's Parkinson's (or meds) give him nightmares and when checking out the noise Abby and Ray find a shaken and embarrassed Terry has wet the bed. The NFL is checking the Finneys' deal and the absence of Varick leads them to have one of their investigators, disgraced former FBI director Ed Cochran, look into the deal. Cochran seems to relish the prospect of encountering Ray again. Mickey hides out in a motel. Muncie goes looking for him and arrests groom-to-be Bunchy when Mickey cannot be located. Ray agrees with Muncie to swap father for brother and tracks down Mickey then convinces him to return. Mickey meets with the Minassians and sees the pictures of the sex-slaves that Belikov is controlling; he is shaken by these. Bridget is out bowling with Donellen who admits his feelings for her. Bunchy and Teresa are married and the reception is a success with Ray delivering a fine and moving speech. Mickey asks Ray for help with his situation. Ray asks Lena to look into the Minassians.

After police battle with demonstrators in the streets of Chicago, Richard Nixon wins the presidency, promising law and order at home and peace overseas. In Vietnam, the war goes on and soldiers on all sides witness terrible savagery and unflinching courage.

Earl J. Hickey is a small-time thief with a messed-up life. His "scratch and win" lottery ticket proves to be worth $100,000, but he is immediately hit by a car and watches the ticket blow away. While Earl recovers in hospital, his wife Joy divorces him, and Earl is introduced to the concept of karma while watching an interview with singer Trace Adkins on Last Call with Carson Daly. He decides to try to make up for all the bad things he has done and makes a written list of 259 items. After leaving the hospital he starts on his list and right away he finds his lost $100,000 scratcher. Figuring karma works pretty well, he resolves to continue making up for items on the list. Meanwhile Earl and Randy meet their beautiful new maid, Catalina and Randy finds that he has feelings for her.

The boys get ready for a pajama party at the Playboy mansion, and discover that Drama has been "banned for life" by Hef. Eric tries to persuade Vince to do the Aquaman film, especially when the actor goes house-hunting in an expensive neighborhood.

Jack is imprisoned in the Hydra, an underwater Dharma Initiative station, and interrogated by an Other named Juliet. Kate and Sawyer are kept in nearby cages. Sawyer tries to escape with a teenage Other named Karl, but they are caught. "Henry Gale", whose real name is Ben, is revealed to be the leader of the Others. In flashbacks, Jack obsessively tries to find out who his wife Sarah is having an affair with during his divorce settlement. Jack suspects his father and attacks him at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Jack is arrested and bailed out by his wife.

Without her husband by her side, Bailey refuses to have the baby and George works with Addison to convince her to. Dr. Webber's stress causes an anxiety attack that brings Adele to the hospital. Meredith removes the explosive from the patient, but it explodes and kills Dylan. Preston and Derek overcome their initial rivalry and call each other by their first names. Cristina says "I love you too" to a sleeping Preston. Derek comes visiting Meredith after she nearly dies and Meredith tells him that she can't remember their last kiss.

Buster struggles to make it on his own and break away from his overbearing mother.

"Treehouse of Horror XXIV" kicks off with "Oh, the Places You'll D'oh," a Dr. Seuss parody in which Homer cuts a path of destruction as "The Fat in the Hat." Next, a decapitated Bart is forced to live on Lisa's body in "Dead and Shoulders." Finally, in "Freaks No Geeks," Marge and Homer are circus performers in love -- and Moe is the sideshow freak who wants Marge.
